Cisco Systems
®
announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco
®
2612 Multiservice Access Router Platform.
The last day to order the affected product is July 24, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive
support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until July 24, 2011.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this
announcement. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating to the replacement product.
The Cisco 2612 is normally deployed for Token Ring support. IBM no longer sells Token ring and customers have been migrating, or have plans
in place, to migrate their networks out of token ring to Ethernet and IP connectivity. Cisco continues to offer Token Ring support through a network
module interface card NM-1FE1R2W for the Cisco 3825 and 3845 Integrated Services Router platforms.
Replacement products for the Cisco 2612 Multiservice Access Router Platform are the Cisco 3825 or 3845 integrated services routers. Customers
are encouraged to migrate to the Integrated Services Router platforms which will continue to support token-ring topologies.
