Since firmware version 1.6 the NetCom has two 
options of Logging. There is the standard Syslog, 
and a second option of logging via Telnet. 
Activate the Syslog, and define the machine with 
the Syslog Demon running. Also configure the 
Facility parameter.   
You may also connect to a special “Debug Port” 

on the NetCom to get all 
messages in real-time. 
 

 

There is an option to upgrade the Firmware of 
NetCom. This is either done via the actual channel 
(i.e. the serial or Telnet connection). Or 
independently via a separate TCP/IP connection. 
This setting defines the parameter. The Firmware is 
sent coded in base64, via very simple programs like 
a second Telnet session, or similar tools.
