Answering system settings
Call screening
You can listen at the telephone base to a caller leaving a message. If you 
want to turn off the call screening feature, set the call screening off on the 
handset. Remember to increase the volume in order to hear your messages 
during playback.
To turn on or off with a handset:
Press MENU/

 when the handset is not in use.
Press

Number of rings
You can choose from two, four, or six rings; or toll saver. With toll saver 
selected, the answering system answers after two rings when you have 
new messages, and after four rings when you have no new messages. This 
enables you to check for new messages and avoid paying unnecessary long 
distance charges if you are calling from out of your local area.

If call screening is set to on while the answering system is answering a call, 
you can press VOL/  once on the telephone base to temporarily turn the 
call screening off. If call screening is set to off while the answering system 
is answering a call, you can press 
/VOL  once on the telephone base to 
temporarily turn the call screening on. 
Press 
/VOL to temporarily  increase the volume or VOL/
to temporarily 
decrease the volume to level 1 during call screening.
