Adapters
Converged Network Adapters for Fibre Channel over Ethernet
(FCoE)
Converged Network Adapters support concurrent LAN (TCP/IP) and SAN
(FCoE) traffic over a shared 10Gb Ethernet link.  The QLogic 8100 Series
Converged Network Adapters support full hardware offload for FCoE
protocol processing, which frees up the server CPU to perform other tasks, such as running applications or
hosting virtual machines (VMs).  In addition, the adapters support iSCSI using software initiators that
are available from most operating systems.
4Gb and 8Gb Fibre Channel Adapters
The QLogic 2400 and 2500 Series Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters are the highest-performing
adapters in QLogic’s industry-leading Fibre Channel technology portfolio.  The adapters not only
meet the needs of today’s demanding data center requirements by providing power and virtualization
optimization, but also offer investment protection by being backwards compatible with previous
generations of adapters, including 4Gb and 2Gb technology.
iSCSI Adapters
The QLogic 4000 Series 1GbE iSCSI Adapters provide SAN connectivity over Ethernet and TCP/
IP network infrastructures.  Both the iSCSI and TCP/IP processing functions are performed on the
adapters and not on the host server CPU.  By offloading these functions to the QLogic 4000 Series
Adapters, more host server CPU processing power is available to server applications, thus increasing
the overall iSCSI SAN performance.
Switches
Stackable switches, long familiar to Ethernet users, were
introduced for Fibre Channel by QLogic in 2003.  Stacking
reduces complexity and costs by providing a stable, highly-
expandable transport for aggregate inter-switch traffic—
eliminating the disruption, port waste, and management hassles
associated with using device ports as ISLs.
There are no license fees for trunking, and the optional advanced management tools (Enterprise
Fabric Suite™) is based on a site license, not per device.  Lower port count expansion kits (4-port
increments) offer a true “pay-as-you-grow” approach.  When all the benefits are added up, QLogic’s
stackable switches provide a much more predictable and lower total cost of ownership.
Routers
The QLogic Intelligent Storage Routers provide a powerful and
cost-effective multi-protocol connectivity tool for medium-sized
businesses up to the largest enterprises.  QLogic routers can be
used to provide multi-protocol host connectivity to storage systems, SAN-over-WAN connectivity for
business continuity and disaster recovery, and a flexible data migration solution.
