Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G Series
The Cisco
®
Aironet
®
1240AG Series Access Point is an IEEE 802.11a/b/g fixed-
configuration, dual-band access point. Built in to the access point are two radios, each
with dual antenna connectors for diversity. The Cisco Aironet 1240G Series Access Point
provides single-band 802.11g wireless connectivity. Both series are designed for
challenging RF environments such as factories, warehouses, and large retail
establishments.
The Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G support local power as well as Power over Ethernet
(PoE), either by an IEEE 802.3af-compliant Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device, such as a
switch, or by a device capable of providing 12.95W to a powered device and compliant with Cisco
Inline Power. The Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G Series include a console port for
management.
The Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G Series ship with the following:

The power supply and power cord also ship with the access point unless you chose not to receive
these items when you placed your order. Refer to the section “Power Supply”.
The Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G Series are available in several stock keeping units
(SKUs), identifying a particular regulatory domain (Tables 1 and 2). Each version provides a
unique combination of channel and power settings that are compliant with local government
regulations.

The Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G Series can be ordered with Cisco IOS Software to operate as
an autonomous access point or with LWAPP. When the Cisco Aironet 1240AG and Aironet 1240G are
operating as lightweight access points, a wireless LAN (WLAN) controller is required.
