4.5 Primary seals removal and fitting

4.5.1 R90 Single mechanical seal
Mechanical seals are fragile. Take extreme care when handling.
Clean components before fitting, checking there is no damage
to sealing faces. New elastomeric parts should be fitted during
assembly.

Seal removal
1. Loosen the screws (7).
2. Remove the rotorcase.
3. Extract stationary seals (2) from rotorcase.
4. Remove the rotary seal (3) from the shaft (and abutment spacer if fitted).

Seal fitting
1. Mark the shaft to indicate the seal setting length.
2. Lightly lubricate O-rings (4 and 1) and fit to rotary and stationary seals (3 and 2).
3. If fitted replace abutment spacers. Fit rotary seals

to shafts until aligned with the setting mark.
4. Tighten the screws (7).
5. Fit stationary seals to rotorcase.
6. Wipe clean the sealing faces with solvent.
7. Refit the rotorcase.
