Traffic shaping: optimized uploads and
downloads
Priority for VoIP traffic
Limits upload and download bandwidth
during Internet phone calls
When telephony capacity is exhausted, callers
receive busy signal
PBX Features for VoIP
FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN provides many PBX features,
including call waiting, call forwarding, three-
party calls, and more, both for fixed-line and for
Internet calls. The combination of fixed-line and
Internet telephony permits new uses, such as
the call-through function to permit calls over the
Internet from mobile phones. Furthermore,
FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN supports convenient phone
line features, both over the fixed-line and over
VoIP. Features supported by SIP include three-
party calls (3PTY), external call transfer (ECT), call
diversion, and message waiting indication (MWI).
FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN is also available with an
additional ISDN S0 NT interface with which exis-
ting ISDN telephones or PBXs connected, thus
making those devices VoIP enabled.
Convenient and Secure ADSL Router
FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN connects one or more com-
puters to the ADSL line – simply and securely –
through a USB or LAN cable or wireless via WLAN.
The built-in firewall adds security to high-speed
surfing. FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN works either as an
ADSL modem or as a modern router to enable
simultaneous surfing from several computers.
Other network devices can also be connected to
FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN including game consoles,
network switches or IP telephones. Its built-in NAT
firewall capabilities protect against unauthorized
access from the Internet and factory-activated
encryption prevents intruders accessing the WLAN
network. Features such as easily configured port
forwarding and traffic shaping for optimized use of
bandwidth add additional value.

Smart Bandwidth Management for
Quality of Service and Performance
FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN provides optimum quality of
service and performance through integrated band-
width management. This advanced router function
monitors incoming and outgoing data traffic over the
ADSL line and ensures that telephone communica-
tion over the Internet is not impeded by simultane-
ous web surfing. All uploads and downloads are
adjusted to the remaining available bandwidth. In
this way, multiple Internet phone calls can be con-
ducted simultaneously without any interference.
