Product Overview
Introduction
The HMX extender system, which includes a transmitter and a user station, provides users with a 
full workstation desktop experience from anywhere on the corporate TCP/IP network, while 
maintaining the workstations securely housed in a corporate data center. Desktop users can access 
keyboard, mouse, video, audio, USB mass storage devices and other USB devices from remote 
workstations via the HMX system.Virtual USB support is also featured in the HMX system.
NOTE: References to the HMX system in this document refer to both the user station (HMX 1050, HMX 1070 or 
HMX 2050 user stations) and the transmitter. The HMIQDI transmitter accompanies the HMX 1050 user station, 
the HMIQSHDI transmitter accompanies the HMX 1070 user station and the HMIQDHDD transmitter 
accompanies the HMX 2050 user station. See Transmitter features on page 3 for more information.
HMX system features
The HMX extender system contains the following features.

Security
The HMX system supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) over a TCP/IP connection. All media 
streams transmitted between the HMX user station and the transmitter are encrypted. Password 
protection is also provided to control access to all administration functions. 
Flash upgradable
Upgrade your firmware at any time using the XMODEM or HTTP protocols to ensure that your 
HMX system is always running the most current version available. Both the transmitter and the 
HMX user station are Flash upgradable. Upgrades can also be performed via the HMX Manager.
