To set the aspect ratio when recording onto a DVD-R/RW
disc.

Fixes the aspect ratio at 4:3.

Note
• When “Mode” on “AV Record Quality” is set to “1.4(Mbps)”,

pictures are recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio even if “16:9” is
selected.

To set whether or not recording is to be performed in the
format for which recording is allowed by the DVD-Video
standard (video, audio and other data) during recording.

When recording on a DVD-RAM disc, both the main
and sub sounds are recorded.
When recording on a DVD-R/RW disc, this is
ineffective. The recorder will automatically regard this
as “Main,” and record sound of the main channel only in
stereo. Select “Main” or “Sub” for a DVD-R/RW
recording.

Notes
• When you change the manual rate of the picture quality to

from 3.0 to 3.8 and set this mode to “Main” or “SAP”, the
picture quality may become lower than when you set this
mode to “Off”.

• You can change the setting from the Quick Menu.

To set whether chapters are to be automatically created
at a selected interval during DVD-R/RW recording.

Chapters are not set.

To set the interval at which chapters are automatically
created to 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes.

Note
• The number of chapters has the upper limit, which varies

depending on the disc condition. If the number reaches it,
no more chapters are created.

Selects the level of 3D digital noise reduction that can
reduce noises in a picture via the S-video input.

Deactivates the 3D digital noise reduction.

Sets the normal level.

Increases digital noise reduction.

Notes
• “Rec DNR” works only on S video input. No effects on

receiving broadcasts or composite video input.

• If you want to avoid an afterimage in the picture, set this

setting to “Off”.

The 3D digital comb filter executes Y/C (Brightness/
Color) separation to reduce the color irregularity or cross
color interference.

Deactivates this function.
In an area where the broadcast reception is poor,
select this mode.

Activates this function.
In normal conditions, select this.

Notes
• While “Off” selected, the logical comb filter executes Y/C

separation.

• “3D Y/C Separation” works only on receiving broadcasts

and composite video input. No effects on S video input.
