typically, each operator is responsible for ensur-
ing  proper  care  of  the  equipment.  We  strongly 
recommend all operators make a habit of follow-
ing the daily maintenance procedures.

to  reduce  the  risk  of  injury  and  ensure  proper 
machine operation, if you ever observe any of the 
items below, shut down the machine immediately 
and fix the problem before continuing operations:

• 

loose mounting bolts or fasteners.

• 

Worn, frayed, cracked, or damaged wires.

• 

Chip guard removed.

• 

eMergenCy stop button not working cor-
rectly  or  not  requiring  you  to  reset  it  before 
starting the machine again.

• 

Any other unsafe condition.

Every 8 hour of operation:
• 

lubricate the ball oilers (

Page 34).

• 

Check/Add headstock oil  (

Page 33).

•   Check quantity/quality of coolant (

Page 20).

Annually:
• 

Change headstock oil (

Page 33).

• 

thoroughly clean the machine and protect all 
surface areas

• 

press  the  eMergenCy  stop  button  and 
shut 

OFF  the  master  power  switch  (to  pre-

vent accidental startup).

• 

remove any rotary tables, vises, fixtures, or 
workpieces from the table to prevent rusting 
the table surface.

• 

disconnect machine from power, open elec-
trical box, and clean with compressed air.

Metal chips left on the machine will invite oxida- 
tion  and  a  gummy  residue  build-up  around  the 
moving  parts.  use  a  brush  and  shop  vacuum  to 
remove  chips  and  debris  from  the  working  sur- 
faces  of  the  drill  press.  never  blow  off  the  drill 
press with compressed air, as this will force metal 
chips deep into the mechanisms and may cause 
injury to yourself or bystanders.

remove  any  rust  build-up  from  unpainted  cast 
iron  surfaces  of  your  drill  press  and  treat  with  a 
non- staining lubricant after cleaning.

Keep  unpainted  cast  iron  surfaces  rust-free  with 
regular applications of iso 68 way oil (see 

30 for offerings form grizzly).
