Chapter 6: CM402 Center Section
The CM402 Center Section module (Figure 6-1) is located to the left of the CM401
Master Section (which contains the Center Strip). The purpose of the CM402 is to ex-
pand access to Center Strip channel’s functions so they are more readily available. It
includes the following functional sections, from top to bottom:
Bus Routing Panel
Bus routing for the Center Strip’s channel.
Aux, Input, and Filters knobsets with select panel
The Select Panel determines which functions of the Center Strip’s channel are
displayed on the knobsets.
Dynamics and EQ knobsets
The Center Strip channel’s dynamics and EQ are always displayed on these
knobsets.

Eight assignable Strip faders
Although traditionally used for Control Groups, any channel can be assigned
to them using the same techniques to assign a channel to a Strip on the CM408.
Any channel on the console can be displayed on the Center Strip by pressing its Wave
key. The Channel Select Panel can also assign channels to the Center Strip.
Once a channel has been assigned to the Center Strip,
reassigning the Swap or Main channels on the original Strip is not reflected in
the Center Strip.
