vertical bars. You select one item.

Optional alternative items are grouped in square brackets 
and separated by vertical bars. You select one item or no 
item.

Alternative items are grouped in braces and separated by 
vertical bars. You can select a minimum of one item or a 
maximum of all items. 

&<1-n> 

The parameter before the ampersand sign (&) can be 
repeated 1 to n times.

A line starting with the number sign (#) contains comments.
