--remove 

Used to remove a disk from a volume definition.  Users may later re-add the 
disk using the —add command. 

Device name assigned to existing volume.  Example /dev/md0 

<faulty-device> 

Designate faulty device.  Example /dev/sda  

Remove volume 

/etc/rc.d/init.d/mdarray stop 

step2 

Edit file: /etc/mdadm.conf and remove RAID volume entry
