Using Your Coffee Grinder
1
Remove cover and pour the desired amount of coffee beans
into the cover. Use the convenient cup markings as a guide.
For example, if you plan to brew 4 cups of coffee, fill with beans
to the “4” line.
Note: Since coffee flavor is a matter of personal taste, experiment
with different amounts of beans to use per cup.
2
Pour measured coffee beans into grinder bowl. Place cover on
grinder with the triangle positioned above the lid tab and safety
switch slot. Turn. The lid will not fit into any other position, but will
drop easily into place when correctly positioned.
3
Move cup selector to number of cups you want to grind.
4
Plug cord into outlet.
5
Press and hold the on/off button to begin operation.
Note: As a safety feature, the grinder will not operate unless the
cover is securely in place with tab in the safety switch slot. When
the on/off button is released, the grinder will stop and the cover
can be removed.
IMPORTANT: If removing the cover to check consistency of coffee
grounds, make sure the inner rim is free of coffee particles. Be sure
to shake the grounds into the center. Failure to do this may prevent
the appliance from operating. If this is the case, remove the lid, clear
the grounds from the rim as noted above, and replace cover.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE COVER UNTIL BLADES COME
TO A COMPLETE STOP.
6
Continue to press the on/off button to reach desired grind consis-
tency. Once a coarse grind has been reached, the COARSE indicator
will illuminate. If a finer grind is desired, continue pressing the on/off
button to achieve a MEDIUM grind. When all three lights are illumi-
nated, this indicates a FINE grind has been achieved.
NOTE: The amount of time required for grinding will vary with
the amount of beans used.
7
When beans are ground to desired consistency, release the On/Off
button and allow blades to stop.
8
Unplug unit from outlet.
9
Transfer the coffee grounds from the container to your coffee
maker.
10 Store ground coffee in a covered container. Refrigerate.
Note: Do not operate this appliance continuously for more than
2 minutes, Allow appliance to cool down for 10 minutes before
using again.
Grinding Tips
1
A COARSE grind is recommended when using a percolator or the
French press method. MEDIUM grind is best for use in automatic
drip coffeemakers and steam-type espresso machines. Use a FINE
grind for espresso machines with an electric pump.
2
Your coffee grinder needs to cool after each 60 seconds of use.
This cooling period protects your ground coffee from becoming
overheated before it is brewed.
3
Vary the grinding times to suit your taste and type of beans
you grind.
4
For the freshest, most flavorful coffee, grind only enough beans for
the pot you are making. Coffee beans keep up to 2 months in the
freezer in an airtight container and can be ground while still frozen.
Coffee grounds left in your grinder can become stale and affect the
flavor of freshly ground coffee. Be sure to clean grinding bowl,
blades and cover after each use.
