Appendix B—Assigning an XP raw device to a VM 

The following steps assumes that the VMware guest OS has already been installed on the virtual machine. 

Provision the LUN 

First provision the XP LUN to the VMware server. 

VMware Infrastructure Client 

The VMware Infrastructure Client must be used to login and configure a VMware server. 
The following VMware Infrastructure Client screen shows the VMware server configuration settings:

Selecting the HBA device “vmhba0,” the available raw XP devices are listed the “Details” frame. This 

confirms the connectivity from the XP array to the VMware server. In this case, the XP command 

device is highlighted.
