My computer 
never detects the 
GPSMAP 640 when I 
connect it.
1.  Unplug the USB cable from your computer. 
2.  Turn off the GPSMAP 640. 
3.  Plug the USB cable into a USB port on your 
computer and into your GPSMAP 640. The 
GPSMAP 640 automatically turns on and 
goes into USB mass storage mode. Ensure 
your GPSMAP 640 is connected to a USB 
port and not a USB hub. 
I cannot see any new 
removable drives in 
my list of drives.
If you have several network drives mapped 
on your computer, Windows can have trouble 
assigning drive letters to your GPSMAP 640 
drives. See your operating system Help file to 
learn how to map or assign drive letters.

nearest your hotel are listed first.
Messages and Alarms (Marine Mode)
aiS: Dangerous target—an AIS target currently presents a 
collision threat.
alarm Clock—the alarm clock alarm has sounded.
anchor Drag alarm—the boat has drifted out of the user-set 
distance range.
antenna input is Shorted —there is a short in the wiring to the 
internal or external antenna.
approaching Waypoint <name>—the boat is a specified alarm 
distance from the destination waypoint.
arrival alarm <name>—arriving at destination waypoint.
auto-guidance unable to calculate route—(BlueChart g2 Vision) 
auto-guidance cannot calculate the route. Ensure that both your 
current position and the end point are contained in the BlueChart 
g2 Vision region contained on the inserted SD card.
auto-guidance unable to calculate route. ending position not 
within safe depth—(BlueChart g2 Vision) auto-guidance cannot 
calculate the route; choose an end point within the specified safe 
depth.
