mike Freiberg’s family introduced him to the world 
of bird watching at five years old, and then his hobby 
grew into a career. his summers during college were 
spent working for the Point Reyes Bird Observatory in 
Eastern Oregon and Rocky mountain Bird Observatory 
in the Black hills, SD. he has traveled mexico, Venezu-
ela and Brazil in pursuit of birds, including six months 
performing research in northeast Brazil on a newly 
discovered species: the Araripe manakin.
Cameron Cox has been birding almost nonstop 
since his “conversion” at the age of thirteen. he 
has traveled around north America looking at birds 
and working on various research projects, and now 
travels for nikon attending birding festivals, leading 
field trips and teaching bird identification. he enjoys 
competitive birding, including the World Series of 
Birding and the Great Texas Birding Classic.
