CD-ROM Drive Replacement Procedure for the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112

  How To Replace the CD-ROM Drive
Step 5
From the front of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112, gently slide in the CD-ROM drive as far as it can go.
Step 6
From the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112, pull the CD-ROM drive IDE cable towards you as far as 
possible. Plug this cable into the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 inner connector.
Step 7
Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the four captive screws in the corners of the floppy drive housing 
in the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112.
Step 8
Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the two screws on the CD-ROM drive.
Step 9
Replace the plate over the drive bay housing.
Step 10
Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the four captive screws in the corners of the drive bay housing in 
the front of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112.
Powering Up the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112
Step 1
Plug the power cable into the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112.
Step 2
Locate the power switch on the back of the Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 and turn it to the on position (“ | ”).
Step 3
Start the terminal emulator program on your computer. See the 
 for information about how to start the terminal emulator program.
Step 4
Access the CLI.
Step 5
Log in as an administrator. The tech$ prompt appears.

To ensure that the new CD-ROM drive is working properly, follow the instructions in the 
If you cannot mount the CD-ROM drive or view the media, check it by doing the following:
Power down the Cisco MeetingPlace system.
Recheck the cabling to the CD-ROM drive (both the IDE and the power cables).
Recheck it by following the instructions in the

If you still cannot mount the CD-ROM drive or view the media, try installing another CD-ROM drive.
If the second CD-ROM drive installs and works correctly, send the CD-ROM drive you tried to use as a 
replacement first back to the factory. If the second CD-ROM drive does not install or work correctly, 
contact Cisco TAC.
Verifying that You are Connected
Step 1
Ensure that all the gateways work. See the Administrator Guides for the specific gateways for 
information on determining that they are working correctly.
Step 2
Ensure that you can call into the Cisco MeetingPlace system and attend a meeting. If you cannot call 
into the Cisco MeetingPlace system and attend a meeting, try reseating the CD-ROM drive. If that does 
not work, contact Cisco TAC.
