Use this guide as a resource to learn about the features of your IronPort appliance. The topics
are organized in a logical order. You might not need to read every chapter in the book.
You can also use this guide as a reference book. It contains important information, such as
network and firewall configuration settings, that you can refer to throughout the life of the
appliance.
The guide is distributed in print and electronically as PDF and HTML files. The electronic
versions of the guide are available on the IronPort Customer Support Portal. You can also
access the HTML online help version of the book directly from the appliance GUI by clicking
the Help and Support link in the upper-right corner.
Before You Begin
Before you read this guide, review the IronPort Quickstart Guide and the latest product
release notes for your appliance. In this guide, it is assumed that you have unpacked the
appliance, physically installed it in a rack, and turned it on.
Note — If you have already cabled your appliance to your network, ensure that the default IP
address for the IronPort appliance does not conflict with other IP addresses on your network.
The IP address that is pre-configured on the Management port is
192.168.42.42
.
