announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco IDS 4215 Sensor. The last
day to order the affected product(s) is July 29, 2008. Customers with active service contracts will
continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table
1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the
affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For
customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the

Table 1.
Customers with the Cisco IDS 4215 Sensor are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco ASA 5510
Adaptive Security Appliance Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) solution with Advanced Inspection
and Prevention Security Services Module AIP-SSM-10. The Cisco ASA 5510 IPS solution with AIP-
SSM-10 provides a higher IPS throughput of up to 150 Mbps plus industry-leading firewall
protection. Customers requiring promiscuous mode (non-inline) deployments are encouraged to
migrate to the Cisco IPS 4240 Sensor, which supports up to 250 Mbps of IPS throughput.
Customers needing higher-performance, inline solutions can consider the IPS 4240 or the ASA
5510 IPS solution with AIP-SSM-20, which provides performance matched firewall and IPS
throughput of up to 300 Mbps in a single integrated appliance.
