This document described PFC and showed how PFC is used to build a reliable Layer 2 infrastructure for the 

purposes of FCoE, or any application that might take advantage of this function in the future. PFC is affected by the 

length of the Ethernet segment between a transmitter and a receiver, and tuning the parameters properly is critical for 

the function to work correctly. For this reason, current implementations do not offer tuning to end users. This 

document also showed how the Cisco Nexus 5000 Series addresses the distance requirements and discussed how 

supported ranges for that platform could be extended.
