Cisco ISE supports the following virtual environment platforms:

Cisco ISE works with Microsoft Active Directory servers 2003, 2003 R2, 2008, and 2008 R2 at all 
functional levels. Microsoft Active Directory version 2000 or its functional level are not supported by 
Cisco ISE. 

The following steps summarize how to install new Cisco ISE Release 1.1 DVD software on supported 
hardware platforms (see 

 for support details).

With Cisco ISE Release 1.1, installation occurs in two phases:

The software is installed from the DVD, and when complete, the DVD is ejected from the appliance.

The administrator logs in and performs the initial configuration.

When using virtual machines (VMs), Cisco recommends that the guest VM have the correct time set 
using an NTP server before installing the .ISO image on the VMs.

Log into Cisco Download Software at 

You might be required to provide your Cisco.com login credentials.

Navigate to Security > Identity Management > Cisco Identity Services Engine > Cisco Identity 
Services Engine Software.

Download the appropriate Cisco ISE .ISO image (for example. ise-1.1.0.665.i386.iso) and burn the 
image as a bootable disk to a DVD-R.

Insert the DVD into the DVD-R drive of each appliance, and reboot the appliance to initiate the Cisco 
ISE DVD installation process.

(If necessary) Install a valid FlexLM product license file and perform Cisco ISE initial configuration 
according to the instructions in the

. Before you run the setup program, ensure that you know the configuration parameters listed in
