Clears the address resolution protocol (ARP) cache for a given IP address.

Exec 

The following prompt is displayed in the Exec mode: 

[local]host_name# 

 

clear ip arp ip_address 

 

Specifies the IP address for which to clear the ARP cache in IPv4 dotted-decimal or IPv6 colon-separated-
hexadecimal notation.  

Clear the ARP cache when network changes have occurred for the case where the cached data may cause 
undue overhead in routing packets. 

 

The following command clears the ARP cache for the IP address 

: 

clear ip arp 10.2.3.4
