The Cisco CDE 280 delivers an exceptional level of scalability and reliability while giving service providers a
distinct service-velocity advantage in supporting the next generation of personalized entertainment and interactive
media. The Cisco CDE 280 platform combines with the Cisco Video Distribution Suite for Television (VDS-TV)
software and content delivery applications (CDAs) that provide ingest, storage, caching, streaming, and other real-
time, scalable, and resilient capabilities. Cisco CDE 280s work together to form a scalable, flexible, and highly
available system that allows service providers to rapidly deploy high-value distribution services for applications
such as video on demand (VoD), live streaming, time-shift TV (TSTV), and cloud DVR (cDVR). The Cisco CDE 280
is a fully optimized solution based on the Cisco Unified Computing System
™
(Cisco UCS
®
) server platform.
Cisco CDE 280 Product Overview
The Cisco CDE 280 (Figure 1) extends the capabilities of the Cisco CDE portfolio in a 2RU form factor with the
addition of 8 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to deliver a superb combination of performance, flexibility, and efficiency.
