Enable Optional Features
Introduction
SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 includes several optional features that system operators can elect to
enable on their systems. These optional features are briefly described in the
following list:

EAS Filtering—Enables system operators to filter Emergency Alert System (EAS)
messages by hub.
•
Enhanced Interactive Session Performance—Improves the efficiency with which
the DNCS processes video-on-demand (VOD) sessions.
•
Session-Based Encryption—Activates encryption for session-based VOD.
•
Direct ASI—permits the use of the ASI card for transmitting inband data.
Run the licenseGen Software
You can enable these optional features by running a special license generating
program called licenseGen. If the site you have upgraded to SR 2.5 or SR 3.5 is
authorized for any of the optional features, refer to Proprietary Procedures for Enabling
Optional Features for the DBDS, part number 4000631. This technical bulletin describes
how to load and run the licenseGen software. Cisco requires that you remove the
licenseGen software from the system after enabling the appropriate optional
features. Instructions for removing the licenseGen software are also contained in the
technical bulletin.

Install and Configure Direct ASI
If the site you are upgrading will support Direct ASI, refer to the installation and
configuration instructions in Appendix I.
