If I already have Cisco MXE 3500 devices deployed, can I convert them to Resource Manager and
Resource Nodes?
A.
Yes. You can upgrade your existing standalone Cisco MXE 3500 system to a Resource Manager system with a
Resource Manager license. To upgrade an existing standalone Cisco MXE 3500 to Resource Node, you need to
install Resource Node software on the Cisco MXE 3500. Installing the Resource Node software will format the
hard drives.

Do I lose any base functions when I deploy my Cisco MXE 3500 with the Resource Manager license?
A.
No. The Cisco MXE 3500 with the Resource Manager license offers the same functions as a standalone Cisco
MXE 3500 and provides additional features that are available only in Resource Manager.
Q.
Can the Cisco MXE 3500 Resource Manager deliver load balancing and fault tolerance to live streams?
A.
Yes. This function extends to live media processing that the Cisco MXE 3500 supports.
