Keeping Track of Document Changes
Technical Information
 95
Expected Results after PaperPort conversions:
• A folder named PaperPort Conversion is created on the
PageKeeper Pro desktop. All of your PaperPort folders are added
to this folder in their original folder structure. Document links
remain in their original folder locations.
• PaperPort documents are saved as TIFF (Packbits) files. The
physical files are saved to a physical folder named PaperPort
Documents.
This folder is created under PageKeeper Pro’s default
folder for new documents, which is specified in the New
Document
tab of the Options dialog box.
• Stacks are saved as multiple-page TIFF (Packbits) files.
• Sticky Notes are converted to 3M Post-it
®
 Notes. Other
annotations, such as highlights, are not preserved.
• Comments from a document’s summary information are
converted to 3M Post-it
®
 Notes. Keywords from a document’s
summary information are preserved as is and put into the
document’s properties dialog box.
Keeping Track of Document Changes
As you make changes (such as edits to content) to documents,
PageKeeper automatically updates their thumbnails and indexes. If you
move or rename documents on your computer, PageKeeper also keeps
track of those changes and updates its links to those documents.
In order to keep track of document changes, the PageKeeper Jobs
application must be running in the background. PageKeeper Jobs
automatically starts when you start your computer. See “Checking
PageKeeper Jobs” on page 102 f
or more information.
Documents that reside on network or removeable drives cannot be
accessed through PageKeeper if you do not currently have access to
those drives. However, PageKeeper retains links to those documents so
you can use them the next time you have access to those drives.
If PageKeeper loses its link to a document for any reason (such as if you
move the document while PageKeeper Jobs is closed), you will be
prompted to reestablish the link the next time you try to work with that
document in PageKeeper.
