In RELATIVE Mode, the triangle to the right of the number indicates if the VALUE knob coincides with the
parameter value (solid triangle) or not (blank triangle).
When a menu is active, two display options are available for parameters with a dedicated knob. These
can be selected under the menu item KNOB DISPLAY in the CTRL menu:
OFF
Knob movements are not displayed; the current contents of the display remain intact when you
turn a knob.
SHORT
When you turn a knob, the current contents  of the lower display line are briefly overwritten by
data representing the change in parameter value; once the action is completed, the original
contents reappear in the lower display line.
LONG
Same as SHORT, except that - you guessed it - the display shows the knob data for a longer
period of time.
ON
The contents of the display are overwritten when you turn a knob; the original menu does not
reappear in the display.
Knob parameters are indicated via two numbers and a triangle, the position of which vary according to
the KNOB MODE setting (see above). Here are the rules:
1. The number at the right always represents the physical position of the knob. Exception: In RELATIVE
MODE the number indicates the actual parameter value, a parameter value change which in this
mode is immediate and seamless.
2. The number at the left represents the value stored in the sound program, i.e. it tells to which position
you have to turn the knob to return it to the original value. Exception: In SNAP MODE a value is
displayed on the left hand side. You must turn the knob beyond this value to initiate a parameter
change. This value is identical to the current sound program’s original setting unless an incoming
MIDI message addressed to this parameter was received after the sound program was activated.
3. The triangle always indicates which of the two numbers is currently valid, in other words, the value
that is actually implemented by the Virus sound generators. In JUMP and RELATIVE MODEs, this is
always the number at the right, while in SNAP MODE the triangle jumps from the left hand side to
the right as soon as the valid parameter value is exceeded. In RELATIVE MODE an empty triangle
indicates that the knob setting and the parameter value are not identical. When the setting and the
value are identical (for example when the knob is set to the far left or right) the triangle is shaded
black.
