Remove the ADF right cover, or the ADF left cover, or both covers, depending on the removal
objective. See 

Remove two screws (callout 1).

  Removing the damper cover

Remove the damper.

Remove the damper spring cap by sliding it up through the hole.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 to remove the damper on the other side.

During reinstallation, make sure that the oblong hole is directed toward the rear of

the ADF, as shown in the illustration above.

The left damper spring and the right damper spring are different. Make sure that

the correct spring is reinstalled in the correct location.
