Use of batteries
Display
No sound or there is
a lot of noise.
Humming heard
during play.
A beat sound is

DAB  reception  is
poor.
• Keep  this  unit  away  from  mobile
telephones.
• Turn the volume up.
• Switch  off  the  unit,  determine  and
correct  the  cause,  then  switch  the  unit
on.
• An  AC  adaptor  or  fluorescent  light  is
near the cables. Keep other appliances
and cords away from this unit's cables.
• Turn the TV off or separate it from the
unit.
• The  location  and  orientation  of  the
antenna are incorrect.
• The TV antenna wire is too close to the
unit.  Separate  the  antenna  wire  of  the
TV set from the unit.
• Keep the antenna away from computers,
televisions, other cables and cords.
When to change the batteries
When  the  battery  indicator  begins
flashing, replace all 6 of the batteries. 
Before  requesting  service,  make  the  following  checks.  If  you  are  in 
doubt about any of the check points, or if the solutions indicated in the 
chart do not solve the problem, consult your dealer for instructions.
Removing the batteries
Rear row batteries
Press down on the right end of
the middle battery to raise the
positive pole so that the batteries
can be taken out easily.
Front row batteries
After taking out the rear row
batteries, gently lift the right end
of the middle battery so that the
batteries can be taken out easily.
Memory back-up
In the case electricity is cut off when using either batteries or the
AC adaptor with this unit, the clock time is not saved, therefore it is
necessary to reset the time again (→ page 6). 
Approximately 10 minutes of memory is maintained for the Preset
function (FM/DAB), Play Timer function, and list of station names
created with Auto scan.
• If this unit is not used for a long period of time or is used
only from an AC power source, remove all the batteries to
prevent potential damage due to possible battery leakage.
• Align the poles (+ and –) properly when inserting the batteries.
• Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
• Do not recharge ordinary dry cell batteries.
• Do not heat or disassemble the batteries. Do not allow them to
contact flame or water.
• Do not keep together with metallic objects such as necklaces.
• Do not use rechargeable type batteries.
• Do not use batteries if the covering has been peeled off.
Mishandling of batteries can damage other items, cause damage
to the unit, and may cause a fire through short-circuiting or
electrolyte leakage.
If electrolyte leaks from the batteries, consult your dealer. Wash
thoroughly with water if electrolyte comes in contact with any part
of your body.

STATION FULL
• You plugged the AC adaptor in or used
batteries if the AC adaptor was not connected
for the first time or there was a power failure
recently. Set the time. (→ page 6)
• Incorrect operation performed. Read the
instructions and try again.
• The station is currently not broadcasting.
• This station cannot be received. Check your
antenna (→ page 2).
• Data broadcast being received over the
DAB broadcast signal cannot be used on
this unit.
• The broadcast station being received
cannot be accessed (E.g. pay per use etc.).
• Stations are not receivable. Check your
antenna and try Auto scanning (→ page 2, 4).
• Connect the AC adaptor firmly to the unit and
the outlet. If the unit still cannot be turned on,
disconnect the AC adaptor, remove the
batteries, and consult your dealer.
• DAB station memory is full. Use the
following method to clear station memory.

2. Select “STATION CLEAR” with

. “OK? Push ENTER” is
displayed.
4. Press           . 
Station memory is erased and the unit
automatically begins Auto scanning.
