Setup Menu — ‘Altimeter’ Tab
The ‘Altimeter’ Tab contains settings for Altimeter Auto Calibration, Pressure
Units and the Barometer Mode. To change a setting, highlight the fi eld then press
ENTER.  Make you selection then press ENTER to activate the selection.
‘ Altimeter Auto Calibration’ — This setting can be turned On or Off.  If
Altimeter Auto Calibration is On, the unit will use GPS elevation to continu-
ously calibrate the Altimeter.  The calibration is applied slowly except when
the unit is fi rst turned on. If you wish to have complete control of the Altim-
eter Calibration, the Altimeter Auto Calibration should be set to Off.
‘Pressure Units’ — Use this setting to select the units used for all pressure
displays.  The unit can be set to display in ‘Inches of Mercury’ or ‘Millibars’.
‘Barometer Mode’ — The Barometer Mode can be set for ‘Fixed’ or ‘Variable’
elevations. Select ‘Fixed’ for greater accuracy if your elevation will remain
constant, such as at camp or on the water.  When ‘Fixed’ is selected, the unit
will use the last calibrated elevation not GPS elevation as a reference for the
barometer.  If you know your exact elevation or have known good pressure,
see Calibrate Altimeter on page 26 to further enhance the accuracy of the
barometer.
If the elevation will be changing, select ‘Variable’ to use GPS elevation for
barometer calibration. Selecting ‘Variable’ allows the uint to continously cali-
brate the barometer providing more accurate readings when your elevation is
changing.
