6.  Set  the  transmission  in  PARK  (automatic)
or REVERSE (manual).
7.  Raise  the  vehicle  to  the  appropriate  height
with a proper capacity lifting jack and ensure
that the jack and vehicle are stable.
8.  Place the jack stands under the vehicle, and
extend the posts (
Figure 2) to the height of
the axle, frame, or location that can support
the weight of the vehicle.
9.  Make  sure  that  both  jack  stand  lock  dogs
(
Figure 2) fully engage the teeth in the ratch-
et bar, and that when the vehicle is lowered, it
is level and the saddle is centered under the
load points.
10.  Slowly lower the vehicle onto the jack stands,
making sure that the load points are still cen-
tered and all four corners of the stand bases
are still on the ground.
11.  To  remove  the  jack  stands,  verify  that  the
wheel  blocks  are  still  in  position,  and  then
raise  the  vehicle  until  it  is  clear  of  the  jack
stands and they can be removed.

2.  Refer  to  your  vehicle  owner's  manual  to
locate  the  safe  lifting/support  locations,  and
to  verify  that  your  vehicle  weight  does  not
exceed the maximum jack stand load rating.
3.  Make sure the vehicle engine is OFF.
4.  Apply the vehicle emergency brake and make
sure that the vehicle is on flat stable ground.
5.  Block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from
rolling.
