Commercial Ethernet, which was developed well
over 30 years ago, is today the most widely
installed LAN standard since it is used in a
majority of the world’s LAN-connected PCs and
workstations. As the technology has evolved in
terms of better overall performance and faster
speeds, so has the Ethernet’s appropriateness for
the industrial environment: Industrial Ethernet
provides a common physical media among the
various process/manufacturing devices, plus it
