1.0  Overview 
 
The following provides the user with short description of the use of the HPN1600 disposable handheld 
phone. This phone does not contain the usual LCD readout, speaker or microphone. The phone however is 
provided with a portable handsfree kit containing an ear bud and microphone. The handsfree kit plugs in 
the bottom of the phone. The disposable phone can receive calls and originate calls. The three soft keys 
(911, SND and END) and front panel numeral keypad (0-9, star and pound) gives the user total functional 
access to the phone’s operation. In addition, 3 LED indicators located just below the keypad provide the 
user with visual information about the status of the phone. The indicators are summarized below: 
·  Flashing Red LED: indicates phone is ready for operation but no signal. 
·  Flashing Yellow LED: indicates 10 minutes of talk time remaining. 
·  Flashing Green LED: indicates the phone is ready to place a call or receive a call. 
 
 
 
1.2  Operations 
 
To turn on or off the Phone: 
·  Press and momentarily hold the END button to turn the phone on or off. 
 
To place an Emergency 911 call: 
·  Press the 911 key 2 seconds and then press the SND button. 
 
To place a call: 
·  Turn on the phone and plug in the portable handfree kit and wait until the green light flashing 
indicating the phone has found a base station.  
·  Dial the number and then press the Send (SND) soft button. 
 
To receive a call (the phone’s buzzer is sounding) 
·     Press the SND button and talk into the handfree microphone. 
 
 To END a call: 
·  Press the END button
