Transferring files directly from a CompactFlash card
In a Trimble R7 GPS receiver, all data is stored on an internal CompactFlash card.
There are two ways to transfer files between the receiver and the office computer:
Connect the receiver to the office computer and use the Data Transfer utility to
transfer files.
Remove the CompactFlash card from the receiver and connect it directly to your
office computer, where it functions like a normal disk drive. Use Windows
Explorer to transfer files.
When you use the Data Transfer utility to transfer data files from the CompactFlash
card while it is still inserted in the receiver, the Data Transfer utility converts the raw
receiver data (.T01) files you select into the Trimble DAT file format.
However, if you connect the CompactFlash card to your computer and then copy or
move files to your computer, it treats the card like any other disk drive, and transfers
the files without converting them. You need to convert these raw receiver files to DAT
format files before you can use them on your office computer.
You can convert receiver data files using a Windows Explorer extension, which is
installed on your computer when you install the Data Transfer utility.
Note – Although this extension is only available if you have the Data Transfer utility
installed, you do not have to run the Data Transfer utility to use it.
To convert a .T01 file on your office computer into the DAT format:
1.
On your office computer, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the location
of the .T01 file.
2.
Right-click the file, and select Convert to DAT format from the shortcut menu:
