■ Weather channel operation
There are 10 weather channels for monitor-
ing weather channels from the NOAA (Na-
tional Oceanographic and Atmospheric
Administration) broadcasts.

Weather channel selection
q Push [CALL/RX
CS](C) several times to select weather
channel mode.
• “WX” and the weather channel number appear.
w Rotate [DIAL] to select the desired weather channel.
e Push [VFO/MHz] or [MR/S.MW] to return to the previous
frequency or memory channel.

Weather alert function
NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones before
important weather announcements. When the weather alert
function is turned ON, the selected weather channel is moni-
tored every 5 sec. for the announcement. When the alert sig-
nal is detected, the “ALT” and the WX channel are displayed
alternately and sounds a beep tone until the transceiver is op-
erated. The previously selected (used) weather channel is
checked periodically during standby or while scanning.
q Select the desired weather channel.
w Enter “WEATHER ALERT” in set mode.(p.

e Rotate [DIAL]
to select “ON” or “OFF.”
r Push [5/SKIP](ïto set the weather alert function and
push [MENU/LOCK] to return to the weather channel in-
dication.
t Set the desired stand-by condition.
• Select VFO, memory or call channel.
• Scan or priority watch operation can also be selected.
