The Quantum RDX 8000 is a new disk based data protection solution for the
SMB customer. The RDX 8000 brings the best features of disk—fast access, fast
restores and combines them with the best features of tape libraries removability
for disaster recovery and an automated backup process. The RDX 8000 features
iSCSI connectivity, JBOD (just a bunch of disks) or tape emulation mode and is
compatible with current and future RDX cartridge capacities. In addition, the
Quantum RDX 8000 is a complete solution, available with Quantum DATASTOR
Shield, client-side deduplication software or Symantec Backup Exec.

and data stored by up to 90% by deduplicating data on the client before sending
it over the network. Customers use at least 2/3 fewer cartridges in their cartridge
rotation scheme and maintaining a greater version history than tape. Quantum
DATASTOR Shield installed on a Microsoft Windows Server, utilizes a simple Windows
Explorer-like interface and performs agentless backup, meaning there is no software
