Quick installation manual 
1.  System Requirements   
Hardware 
PC-AT compatible computer with an internal USB connection to the motherboard.

This drive supports USB2.0 High-speed (480Mbps) but operates at USB1.1 Full-speed (12Mbps) when connected to a USB 
1.1 port. 
An available 3.5 inch drive bay 
OS  
Windows 98SE / 2000 / ME / XP and Mac OS 8.6 or higher 
* 
For Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 before service pack 2, you must install the USB device driver before connecting the 
drive to your computer. (please refer to Sub-Section 2).

Special drive icons for Windows ME, Windows 2000 SP 3 and Windows XP can be shown if you install the USB device 
driver. 
 
2.  Installation of device driver 
It is necessary to install the device driver before connecting the drive. 
 
1)  Download the device driver from www.mitsumi.com. 
2)  Execute “Setup.exe”. 
3)  Please follow the installation Wizard’s directions. 
4)  When the installation is finished, a dialog box to promote restart is shown.  Check [No, restart 
computer later] and click [completion] button.    Shut down and power off the computer, and mount 
the drive (please refer to Sub-Section 3). 
 
3.  Mounting the drive 
The drive may be connected after turning off the computer completely. 
Internal USB connection interface specifications vary by motherboard manufacturer.   
Please have the motherboard operation manual open for reference before connecting. 
 
1)  Mount the drive to an available 3.5 inches drive bay.

Use 6-32 x 3/8” screws to affix the 3.5 inch floppy disk to the drive bay. 
* 
Screws are not included.    A minimum of four screws may be needed.

2)  Connect the FDD interface connector from the rear of the drive to the connector on the motherboard 
with the FDD interface cable. (Please make sure to check the pin assignment in Figure 2, and 
connect the interface properly) 
 
3)  Connect the FDD power cable from the computer power source to the FDD power connection at the 
rear of the drive. 
 
4)  Connect the USB interface cable from the rear of the drive to the USB internal connection on the 
motherboard. 
                   
 
 
The connection above is an example of a typical pin assignment.    Internal motherboard 
USB connection Pin assignments vary by manufacturer.  Please refer to your 
motherboard’s operation manual to insure the proper connection of the USB interface.   
 
5)  Turn computer on and boot system. The drive will be recognized automatically.    Please make sure 
that (1) 3.5 inches FD and (2) Removable disk icons are shown in the “My Computer” window.

Recognition of the floppy disk drive depends on the setting of the motherboard BIOS.
