Overview

Selected IBM® System x® and BladeCenter® server blade models can now be

shipped with Microsoft® Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard and

Premium Add-on. Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard is an update to

Windows Small Business Server 2008 with a refresh of the components inside,

designed specifically to provide small businesses with a complete IT solution for

their business needs. It is perfect for small businesses who already have a server or

prefer to use email and collaboration tools hosted directly on premise.

Orders for the Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard and Premium Add-on

operating system are accepted only in conjunction with a valid hardware order.

SBS 2011 Standard uses a Server and CAL licensing model, where CALs can be

assigned to either users or devices. All external users require a CAL. SBS Standard

CALs can be used to access other Windows Servers and Exchange Servers on the

domain.

SBS 2011 Standard includes five CALs, and clients can purchase additional CALs for

the number of users or devices they wish to connect to SBS 2011 Standard. For SBS

2011 Premium Add-on, any authenticated connection to SQL Server requires a CAL,

whether user is internal or external.

To allow the most flexibility for our clients, Windows Small Business Server 2011

Standard and Premium Add-on User and Device CAL Suites are available to be

shipped by IBM.
