The IBM® Flex System™ Flash solution is designed for applications that 
require high-performance access to data. The innovative design combines 
solid-state drive (SSD) technology with an optimized storage controller 
and built-in advanced RAID functions for high performance, high density 
and RAID-protected configurations.

Flex System Flash leverages a unique implementation within the  
IBM Flex System and IBM PureFlex™ platform. Up to eight  
1.8-inch SSDs can be configured in the IBM Flex System x220,  
x240 or x440 Compute Nodes leveraging the ServeRAID M5115 and 
M5100 series IBM Flex System Flash Enablement kit. Four of the  
1.8-inch SSDs are hot-swappable and four are embedded into the 
Compute Node. In addition, the solution can be configured with two 
standard SAS hard disk drives (HDDs) with four embedded 1.8-inch 
SSDs for maximum flexibility. Feature on Demand options are available 
to enable high performance and RAID protected configurations that 
improve data access while helping lower solution costs.
