New workload optimized models for SAP HANA provide optimal solutions for SAP

HANA applications. The IBM® System x3950 X5: Workload Optimized Solution for

SAP HANA appliance models offers a preinstalled, optimized appliance that starts

with the 4-processor x3950 X5 models, XL Base and XL Expansion, which enables

scalability to eight processors with up to 2 TB of memory. Using additional options,

the configuration can scale up to eight sockets with 4 TB of memory.

These models also include the following software: SUSE Linux

TM

 Enterprise Server

for SAP Applications operating system with 3-year SUSE 24 x 7 support and the
IBM General Parallel File System ( GPFS

TM

 ) on x86 Single Server for x86 Integrated

Offerings with 3-year software subscription and support.

Note: The SAP HANA software is included, but is sold separately by SAP.

New IBM System x3950 X5: Workload Optimized Solution models incorporate high-
performance, 10-core Intel Xeon

TM

 processors and include:

• Optimization for SAP HANA memory sizes of 1 TB, and 2 TB using high-speed,

lower-power PC3-8500 ECC double data rate 3 (DDR3) SDRAM system memory

• Expansion up to eight sockets with 4 TB of memory

Note: The 4 TB configuration uses the same 8-socket configuration and adds or

replaces options for the increased memory requirements.
