The two founder of the company: Wilhelm

The BILOrA history started with the
foundation of the metal factory Kürbi &
Niggeloh on the 1st February in 1909
in Barmen-rittershausen. In addition to
the just developed tripods diverse other
consumer durables like hanging lamps,
music stands and bicycle axis were
produced at that time. The brand name
BILOrA has been created of the names
of the company‘s founder - Wilhelm Kür-
BI, Carl NiggeLOh - and the city of the
company foundation RAdevormwald.

1935 to 1975
many photogra-
phers could enjoy high quality cameras
with melodic names like Bellina, Bella,
Boy and Bonita. More than one million
cameras of the well-priced BILOrA Stan-
dard Box had been sold. Nowadays still
working cameras can be found among
collectors. Kürbi & Niggeloh produced
also cameras for big companies like
Voigtländer, Gevaert, revue and even
Yashica. Additionally to the cameras dif-
ferent tripod models like Perfekt, Stabilo
rotax, Biloret and Monaco became very
famous. The range of products has been
continuously completed by amateur and
professional tripods.
In

offered an enlarged selection of acces-
sories. One of the products which was
represented exclusively in Germany was
the famous American FOTIMA photo
and video bags programme.

larger and modern hall offers more
place for the continuously increasing
programme and permits to adapt more
flexible to customer requests. On Pho-
tokina 2008 BILOrA introduced its new
Carbon - tripods made of a new high
quality 8-layer carbon fiber tubing.
