d) Mounting the Outdoor Sensor
• Plug the extension tube into the T-shaped standing pipe of the outdoor sensor and fasten it with the included
assembly screw/nut.
• The outdoor sensor now must be attached to a suitable site in the outdoor area. The delivery includes two cable
clamps and several cable ties to attach the standing tube.
Depending on where the outdoor sensor is to be mounted, different mounting material may be required.
The retention ring around the wind sensor shows the 4 cardinal points (“N” = North, “S” = South, “E” = East,
“W” = West).
Attach the outdoor sensor so that the “N” mark points due North. The correct direction can be determined
with a compass.
If you do not have a compass, you may also use a map or map material from the internet to perform at least
approximate alignment.
Use an integrated spirit label (see figure in chapter 8. a) to align the outdoor sensor for the rain and wind
sensor to work correctly.
Observe the following for selection of the mounting site:
• The mounting site must be exposed for wind speed and wind direction to be measured correctly. A minimum distance
to buildings, trees or bushes of 10 metres is recommended.
• Do not mount the outdoor sensor close to trees or bushes because dropping foliage may clog the opening in the rain
sensor.
• The range between the weather station and the transmitter in the outdoor sensor is up to 100 m in a free range (at
a direct line of sight between transmitter/receiver).
The range that can actually be achieved, however, is much lower since there are walls, furniture, windows or plants
between the weather station and the outdoor sensor.
Another interference that strongly reduces range is proximity to electrical/electronic devices, cables or metal parts.
Another problem are reinforced concrete ceilings, metal-vaporised isolating glass windows or other devices on the
same transmission frequency, e.g. radio headphones, etc.
e) Setting up or Mounting the Weather Station
The weather station can be put on the wall using openings in the rear and, e.g., a hook, nail or screw.
Alternatively, the weather station can be set up on a horizontal, stable, sufficiently large area using the extensible
standing base. Use a suitable pad on valuable furniture surfaces to prevent scratches.
