The VXA-2 PacketLoader is a software-controlled, fully auto-
mated magnetic tape cartridge autoloader system with an
integrated VXA drive and ten cartridge slots, providing a
maximum data storage capacity of 0.8/1.6 TB (na-
tive/compressed). It operates at a data transfer rate of 6 MB/s
(typically 12 MB/s with compression) and processes VXA-
specific 8-mm cartridges with a capacity of 20 to 80 GB (de-
pending on the cartridge type used). The efficient ALDC
(Adaptive Lossless Data Compression) technique is used for
data compression.
