RS-232
The DEMO9S12XHY256 applies the MAX3387E, RS-232 transceiver to support serial
communications. A right-angle, DB-9 connector allows attaching standard serial cables to the
target board. A ferrite bead on shield ground provides conducted immunity protection for the
board. Figure 5 below shows the SCI signal connections.

COM Connector
A standard 9-pin Dsub connector provides external connections for the SCI port. The Dsub
shell is connected to board ground through a ferrite bead providing noise isolation on the RS-
232 connection. The figure below details the DB9 connector.
