incremental (re)-establish (EMC
Symmetrix specific term)
A BCV or SRDF control operation. In
BCV control operations, an incremental
establish causes the BCV device to be
synchronized incrementally and to
function as an EMC Symmetrix
mirrored medium. The EMC Symmetrix
devices must have been previously
paired.
In SRDF control operations, an
incremental establish causes the target
(R2) device to be synchronized
incrementally and to function as an
EMC Symmetrix mirrored medium. The
EMC Symmetrix devices must have
been previously paired.

incremental restore (EMC Symmetrix
specific term)
A BCV or SRDF control operation.
In BCV control operations, an
incremental restore reassigns a BCV
device as the next available mirror of the
standard device in the pair. However, the
standard devices are updated with only
the data that was written to the BCV
device during the time of the original
pair split, and the data that was written
to the standard device during the split is
overwritten with data from the BCV
mirror. In SRDF control operations, an

incremental ZDB
A filesystem ZDB to tape or ZDB to
disk+tape session in which only changes
from the last protected full or
incremental backup are streamed to
tape.

Inet
A process that runs on each UNIX
system or service that runs on each
Windows system in the Data Protector
cell. It is responsible for communication
between systems in the cell and for
starting other processes needed for
backup and restore. The Inet service is
started as soon as Data Protector is
installed on a system. The Inet process
is started by the inetd daemon.
