Activation
The Ethernet Switch Blade must transition through a series of states (M0–M4) to become active
in an ATCA shelf. After the Ethernet Switch Blade has reached the M4 state, it will become
active and start the boot process of the OpenArchitect Switch Management environment. If a
failure occurs during the Shelf Manager activation stage, the Ethernet Switch Blade has to be
diagnosed through the ShMM as the OpenArchitect environment is not booted.
