To test the operational status of the control processors you can do the following:

Connect to the console port of either the Base or Fabric Interface control processor (See Chapter 
10 for more information).

If you cannot communicate with the Ethernet Switch Blade, the control processor may have 
encountered a software error. Reboot the switch to clear the error. If the problem persists, and you 
are not able to communicate with the Ethernet Switch Blade, replace and return the Ethernet 
Switch Blade for repair.

If you can successfully contact the Ethernet Switch Blade through the console port (See Chapter 
10 for more information), enter the top command at the command prompt. The top command 
lists the processor utilization of all current processes.

The top command can help you isolate software related problems to specific processes.
