The Summit
 
Virtual Chassis is an ultra-high performance, low-cost external backplane 
that connects up to eight stacked or distributed Summit switches into one cohesive 
system.
Features of the Summit Virtual Chassis include the following:
Increased port density
Policy-based Quality of Service (QoS)
Load-sharing links
Extensive fault-tolerant capabilities
Redundant power supplies
Hot-swappable switches
How-swappable virtual chassis
Environmental sensors
The Summit Virtual Chassis has eight SummitLink ports. A SummitLink port is a 
proprietary backplane channel used to connect Summit switches to the Summit Virtual 
Chassis.
