Frequently Asked Questions  (FAQs)
Are client machines required to have PowerFile MFX software installed?
No, the PowerFile MFX software is only required on the host machine (where the PowerFile is
attached).
How many networked clients can access a PowerFile?
A PowerFile has one or two internal drives, and each drive can share its disc to multiple clients on
your network. The actual number of clients that can access discs in Libraries is determined
largely by your network limitations. Basically, it is no different than if you were sharing a drive on
your local machine to other clients on your network.
Does the MFX software provide security regulating who can see and not see certain disks in
the PowerFile?
Security is provided through the normal administrative rights available under OS X.  The
administrator may set client access privileges for each disc.
Can a client computer be a Windows computer?
Yes, as long as the PowerFile host is running Mac OS X Server v 10.2.5 or higher.  It must also
allow for SMB file sharing. Contact your network administrator for Mac OS X Server setup
instructions.
Can a client computer be a Linux or Unix computer?
Yes, as long as the PowerFile host is running Mac OS X Server v 10.2.5 or higher.  It must also
allow for NFS file sharing.  Contact your network administrator for Mac OS X Server setup
instructions.
